Tomorrow is Cora's first birthday 🎂 @hi_its_cora

From a tiny kitten found alone in a park who needed to be bottle fed, who I said to @tatianatatinka & @bbozorgy that I could foster for "a few weeks" before a trip to London, to a permanent member of the family.

During the last year she has grown into a sweet but strong little lady, growing to 3.6kg, and she has also become a pet influencer and earned back less than 1% of the money I have spent on her while gaining 200 more Instagram followers than I have.

Double the cats is double the joy but not double the work, and Kit is much, much better with a sibling than as an only cat.

Take this as your sign to foster, to consider a friend for a solo cat if they are showing signs of boredom, and to always, always, always adopt and not shop.

Coffee on the beach after my first class of the day (coconut cappuccino) @goodlifeuae - AED23

Protein shake with coffee, almond milk and chocolate protein after class number two (I'm trying to have only one coffee a day so this doesn't count as it also contains protein)
@peachandpassionae - AED31

Hydrafacial and skin pen treatment @skinlaundrymena - AED1600 (the last in a pack of three paid for a while back - skin pen is painful but effective!)

Salad from Waitrose, taken to a friend's place to eat it - AED32 (friend provided sparkling water, balsamic vinegar and a chocolate)

Food for my stray kitties - AED60 (additional food purchased by a friend and donated by a friend's fussy cat)

Emergency order of the Ramadan Rose @humantra via @deliveroo_ae - AED244

This is quite a normal Saturday for the cooler season, other than the facial which is not a weekly expense (usually every 6-8 weeks). And I didn't need to order the Humantra as I have a lot of the other flavours but a friend gave me a stick of the Rose flavour to try and it's so good! I also ate some snacks at home which I didn't add to the total (dates and cheese - separately).

It can feel challenging to feel well in a world wh

It can feel challenging to feel well in a world where things are very much, well, not well. It can be challenging to feel well within ourselves, when wellness itself has been commodfied, where there are more profits made from dis-ease than ease, where "how are you?" is a conversational set piece and not a real question.

Recently I have tried to make wellness a priority, sampling a variety of "wellness" offerings, nothing being too strange to try in the quest of feeling more, well, well... Here's what I have enjoyed:

• time outside - cost, free. I have made the time to be outside, in various weather conditions, savouring what nature we have in Dubai, important and necessary - even better when spent with others.
• volunteering / dog therapy - donations welcomed. This cat lady has volunteered with dogs three times this year and it's been so rewarding, dogs allow you to hug and cuddle them and each time I've spent a few hours walking them outside, I've slept better than any sleep time tea or "phone in quiet mode".
• salt room - salt therapy is meant to improve our breathing, skin and mood. The room is slightly heated but not sauna hot. Perfect for days when you only have 15 minutes, feels cosy and gives a little mood lift.
• red light therapy - mentioned in my healing reel, I started doing it to help my shoulder but want to make it a regular thing, feels strange at first to lay in a 90s looking sunbed but the skin glow and noticeable mood lift is well worth it.
• bone setting - my second session with Pranshu felt like the final step in my shoulder healing journey, his techniques feel quite intense but a combination of manual therapy and massage gun totally dissolved any remaining tension.
• floatation tank - Instagram made me do it. I've done two floats and the second session I was really able to relax and float away to another dimension. Not for claustrophobics.

And, of course, I knew that we just really need to be outside, in sunshine, in good company, doing something meaningful, phones away, that we need physical touch and time and space to just be, that's all it really takes. So easy, but sometimes also not easy at all. 🤍

Last night @experiencetrueleadership and I hosted

Last night @experiencetrueleadership and I hosted a sound healing for our @oldtowndubai community before Iftar - it was so lovely to spend the pre-sunset hour relaxing outside to the sound of singing bowls and with three felines providing additional cuddle and guard duty over our session. ✨

This is the second Ramadan that @experiencetrueleadership and I have hosted our community and it's so lovely to connect with friends and neighbours, to meet new faces, and to collectively pause and relax.
