Four Wellness Podcasts I’m Listening to Right Now

Oct 16, 2019

I realised this week that I barely listen to music anymore. Since getting into podcasts I always have one on the go whether I’m at the gym, walking or just tidying up around the house. I’m never been a big TV watcher and I love how a podcast lets me learn something new, be entertained or share a story while I’m just getting on with my life. It’s a medium that feels so respectful of its audience’s time – I’m actually listening to an episode while I type this post!

These are my current favourites in the “wellness” sphere. I listen to all my podcasts on Spotify (I’ve had Premium for years which I get SO much value from) so these are available there.

Your Body, Your Brand

This series looks at the phenomenon of women dropping out of corporate life in favour of becoming a trainer, yoga teacher or health coach. Recommended to me by my barre teacher-and-actuary friend, the concept behind this series speaks volumes to us both (if you didn’t already know, I’m a lawyer-turned-yoga-teacher). I’ve so far only listened to the intro episode but I can’t wait to delve into this podcast more and unpack both why women are leaving their corporate roles (despite us constantly being encouraged to “lean in” and make CEO) and the darker side of the “wellness industry”.

Episode to listen to: Introduction: Welcome To Your Body, Your Brand

Almost30

Focusing on the transition from our twenties to our thirties, this LA-based lifestyle podcast delves into a different topic each week with a (usually) female guest interviewee. There are over 200 episodes in the archives, so whether you are interested in tarot, astrology, skincare, female entrepreneurship or fitness they’ll definitely be something for you. Hosted by best friends, Krista Williams (Hundred Blog) and former Soul Cycle instructor and performer Lindsey Simcik, they each bring so much of their personalities to this podcast and I love their chats at the start of each episode are as good as the interviews.

Episode to listen to: Ep. 206 – Sober Curious: A New Way to Think About Our Relationship With Alcohol with Ruby Warrington

The Vibe Within

I first started following yoga teacher Gab Cohen on Instagram (gypsyloveflow) after a picture of her and her cat, Gnar, popped up on my search screen. I loved her feed and stories, and shortly after following her she launched her own podcast. It’s a one-woman show and really feels like catching up with a dear friend. I love her honestly, rawness and vulnerability as she talks openly about her life experiences with a wisdom beyond her years. Her episodes on yoga teaching really inspired my to do/finish my teacher training this year and if you’re a new or aspiring teacher, I think you’ll find them super helpful.

The Skinny Confidential Him & Her

Hosted by blogger and influencer Lauren Evarts (the podcast was my gateway to her online presence but I imagine most listeners come from her following) and her husband, Michael Bosstick, this is another LA-based wellness podcast but one that doesn’t take itself too seriously! I laugh out loud at some of the episodes and I love the interplay between Lauren, Michael and their production team. The episodes are a real mix of wellness, beauty tips, sex, brand building and entrepreneurship – some episodes featuring just Lauren and Michael and some with a guest. While Lauren lives a super chic beyond-my-wildest-dreams LA life I really value her honestly, she’s fully open about having had cosmetic surgery, her productivity tips have been so useful (time batching really works!) and I’m a convert to inulin lattes!

Episode to listen to: Understanding Legal Sex Work With Alice Little – America’s Highest Earning Legal Sex Worker

I’m also loving The Lady Vanishes, an Australian true crime podcast centred around the disappearance of Marion Barter some 22 years ago, recommended by my girl Michelle. It is hugely addictive and I’ve not enjoyed a podcast of this genre as much since the original Serial (my first ever pod many moons ago).
