Gifts For Yogis

Dec 1, 2019

It’s the season of gifting and many of us (me included) have so far done…absolutely nothing when it comes to purchasing gifts.

As someone who has drastically cut down on consumption of material items in the last couple of years, gifting season always feels a little conflicting for me as I hate the idea of having to make purchases “just because”, or buying items that ultimately end up unused and unloved in a world of year-round sales, promotions, being ~influenced~ and being told to “treat yo’self” as a somewhat dubious act of self-care.

That said, I’ve put together a small selection of gifts that yogis in your life may appreciate. Especially those of us who are teachers *cough cough* and genuinely need an unlimited supply of leggings and cropped tops…

The Book of Yoga Self-Practice by one of my favourite Instagram yogis, Rebecca (@somewhat_rad) is now available at a lower price of £40 and is an amazing tool for those wanting to adopt, or deepen, an at-home self-practice. Rebecca has poured so much love into this project and I’m so happy that the lower price makes it more accessible to more yogis, as well as a perfect gift for teachers and students.

This Unicorn Sports Bra is super cute, whether you practice with it on show or hidden under a tee. My link will get you 20%* off your first order with Pineapple Clothing, a USA-made eco-friendly activewear brand. [*affiliate link]

A beautiful yoga mat that is also non-slip, absorbent and comes in eco-friendly packaging makes the perfect gift. This mat is almost too pretty to practice on…

I love these Alo Yoga leggings which are also perfect for post-class brunching, too. I have a couple of pairs of Alo leggings and they are such good quality and still look great after being washed multiple times.

Essential oils make the perfect small-in-size gift – I dilute mine with filtered water and pop into a spray bottle to make a room spray to prepare a space for practice, and also like to place a drop on the back of my hand to inhale before or after practice.

Soy candles are perfect for creating a calm environment for at-home practice. Soy wax is non-toxic and safe for pets, too (my kitten loves to get involved in my at-home practice, usually by trying to stand on my head in downward dog).

This yoga class planner looks SO useful for teachers. Says the teacher who currently has their notes, sequences and end-of-class readings spread across three different notebooks…

In need of a secret Santa or stocking filler? This Namaste tote is reduced to just £3.60.

Looking for non-material gift ideas? How about a pack of classes for their favourite studio (I once received a gift card for one of my favourite studios in London which meant I could practice on my visits back), a private session with their favourite teacher or a massage (even yogis have aches and pains…)!
