Las Vegas – Head for Heights
Next Vegas theme…heights. Having a full week in the city meant that a day at the Grand Canyon was a must-do. I’d recommend going early in the week as the trips all start pretty early and a combination of time difference and not being quite in the full swing of Vegas partying will make that early start so much easier. We did a coach trip with Sweet Tours – our guide, Wally (actually a fellow Brit!) was great and the journey to the canyon flew by with his facts and stories. While we didn’t do the helicopter the skywalk was great and the coach trip was a good way to see the canyon while still being back in Vegas in time for dinner. Be warned though – the canyon is actually super packed with tourists and if I went back I’d take the longer trip to the South Rim where you can stay the night and take advantage of hiking and feeling like you’re in the true wilderness.
Stopping at the Hoover Dam for a quick photo.
Coffee stop in Dolan Springs.
The canyon.
There’s no safety barrier. And nothing to stop you falling off the edge so be careful with that selfie stick!
Yeah, it’s busy. We climbed up this and the view was amazing.
It was thiiiiiiiiis big!
The Skywalk – probably the shortest walk you’ll do for $35 and you can’t take your camera or phone with you because they also want to sell you a photo but we couldn’t go all that way and not do it!
On getting back to Vegas we took a more man-made approach to big heights with a ride on the Linq High Roller. This is a new-ish attraction and as well as being super fun it offers great views of the strip and beyond.
Have you been to the Grand Canyon or is it on your bucket list? I wasn’t that fussed about it before I went but now its one of those things I’m really glad I’ve seen.
